Youth-led Development

Assam, India

Riso Ejang, Karbi Anglong

Riso Ejang, Karbi Anglong is a transformational youth leadership initiative in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, where ethnic conflicts, poverty, youth migration, gender inequality, and negative impacts of climate change on agriculture have created significant challenges.
Launched in late 2024 with support from Misereor and Terre des Hommes, this three-year project will identify and develop 50 youth leaders through comprehensive entrepreneurship training and mentorship, empowering them to:

  • Launch sustainable and FSE-compliant entrepreneurial ventures
  • Develop their leadership capabilities
  • Mobilize an additional 500+ youth in their communities
  • Lead social action initiatives in addressing local vulnerabilities

The selected participants, chosen for their innovation potential, risk-taking aptitude, and leadership qualities across all genders and ethnic communities, will use toolkits developed by Dhriiti to train their peers in creating financial, social, and ecological impact of enterprises.

By centering youth as change agents and innovators, Riso Ejang embodies our mission to build local youth leadership that addresses community vulnerabilities through enterprise and entrepreneurship.
