Entre Labs

Our Entre Labs project, supported by the Global Fund for Children, created experimental spaces that integrated entrepreneurship concepts throughout standard educational curriculum. This innovative approach began with a comprehensive analysis of NCERT curriculum through grade 6, methodically identifying opportunities to infuse entrepreneurship perspectives across all subjects.

In English classes, for example, we introduced stories featuring entrepreneurs to develop reading comprehension through business narratives. Mathematics problems were reframed using real-world entrepreneurial scenarios – calculating a farmer’s land area and perimeter to understand agricultural enterprise. History and geography lessons explored why specific industries emerged in particular regions, such as steel production in Jamshedpur or sugar factories in areas with suitable growing conditions.

The project established two physical entrepreneurship labs – one in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand and another in Assam – where these curriculum innovations were implemented. The fundamental concept was leveraging the existing education system to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets rather than adding separate coursework.

While the labs themselves operated for just one year, the pedagogical components developed through this project proved valuable and transferable. Many elements were later adapted and integrated into Dhriiti’s subsequent initiatives like the Farmpreneur program, extending the impact beyond the original pilot sites.

This experimental approach demonstrated how entrepreneurship education could be seamlessly woven into standard subjects, making business concepts accessible and relevant to young learners without requiring additional classes or resources.
