Youth-led Development
Delhi, India / 2005
Being Entrepreneurs was a pioneering Dhriiti initiative supported by organizations including the Global Fund for Children and VSO International, with additional limited funding from various state governments. The program was strategically designed to introduce entrepreneurship concepts and cultivate an entrepreneurial culture among young minds in schools throughout Delhi NCR, Assam, and Jharkhand, working with both government and private/ public educational institutions.
At its core, Being Entrepreneurs aimed to reframe entrepreneurship as a respectable career and livelihood option for school students, inspiring them to aspire to entrepreneurial paths. The program recognized the importance of early intervention in shaping career perspectives and worked to glorify entrepreneurship among impressionable young learners.
Initially conceptualized as an effort to integrate entrepreneurship into educational curricula (including NCERT frameworks), the program evolved into a workshop-based model featuring a series of four interconnected sessions. This approach allowed for focused, age-appropriate entrepreneurship education that complemented traditional schooling.
Being Entrepreneurs utilized a comprehensive knowledge-skill-attitude framework to drive mindset shifts, which represented a significant success. The program culminated with a “My Own Venture Day,” giving students practical experience in conceptualizing and presenting entrepreneurial ideas.
This initiative exemplifies Dhriiti’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking at all educational levels, recognizing that early exposure to business concepts can profoundly influence career trajectories and foster innovation-oriented mindsets from a young age.
